6-Benzylaminopurine (6-BA) 98% TC Powder
Benzyladenine 98% TC grade for formulators; formulate into SL/SP
6-Benzylaminopurine (6-BA) 98% TC Powder, CAS 1214-39-7, is a first-generation cytokinin PGR for lateral bud break (overcoming apical dominance), fruit set and sizing, and post-harvest greenness retention. General foliar rate 10–50 mg/L; 50–100 mg/L to break apical dominance. TC grade for formulators; formulate into SL/SP (typically 2% SL or SP). MOQ 25kg; lead time about 10 working days to Shanghai port; OEM and batch COA available; 24-month shelf life.

Key benefits
- Unlike growth-promoting substances that drive longitudinal elongation (such as gibberellins), 6-BA primarily stimulates the lateral division and expansion of plant cells. When applied during the early fruit development stage of crops like grapes, apples, and strawberries, it significantly increases fruit size, making it a common ingredient in fruit-enlarging fertilizers and formulations.
- Many crops exhibit strong apical dominance, meaning they grow primarily from the main stem without developing lateral branches. 6-BA can directly overcome this dominance and stimulate the sprouting of lateral buds.
- 6-BA possesses a highly stable chemical structure, remaining effective in both acidic and alkaline environments. This makes it ideal for combination with bulk water-soluble fertilizers, other plant growth regulators, or pesticides, creating a synergistic effect where the combined result exceeds the sum of the individual components.
Suggested dosage & application
For formulators
TC grade; formulate into SL/SP. 6-BA is insoluble in water; it dissolves in dilute HCl or NaOH solutions and in ethanol or DMSO, and is commonly formulated into 2% SL or SP. It is stable against heat, light and pH fluctuation, but needs quality wetting agents to prevent recrystallization in clear liquid fertilizers. Every shipment includes a batch COA.
For direct field use
Break apical dominance: 50–100 mg/L. Fruit set: 10–20 mg/L at full bloom. Post-harvest freshness dip: 5–10 mg/L. General foliar rate: 10–50 mg/L.

Frequently asked questions
01What is the CAS number of 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA)?
6-BA (benzyladenine) has CAS number 1214-39-7. We supply 98% technical grade (TC) powder with a batch COA for every shipment.
02What does 6-BA do, and at what rates is it used?
6-BA is a first-generation cytokinin: it promotes cell division and lateral bud sprouting (overcoming apical dominance), improves fruit set and sizing, and delays chlorophyll breakdown. Typical rates: 50–100 mg/L to break apical dominance; 10–20 mg/L at full bloom for fruit set; 5–10 mg/L dip for post-harvest freshness; general foliar rate 10–50 mg/L.
03Is this a ready-to-use product or a technical-grade material?
It is a TC grade for formulators; formulate into SL/SP.
04Can 6-BA be blended with other PGRs?
Yes. It is highly popular co-formulated with GA4+7 (1:1 ratio) for premium fruit-elongation and shape-improving products (Promalin type).
05What is the MOQ, lead time and shelf life?
MOQ is 25kg. Typical lead time is about 10 working days to Shanghai port; OEM packaging and batch COA are available. Shelf life is 24 months in the original sealed packaging.
