Alginate Oligosaccharides (AOS) 90% Powder | Seaweed Elicitor Biostimulant

Marine Oligomer Derived from Irish Atlantic Ascophyllum Nodosum

Alginate Oligosaccharides (AOS) 90% Powder is an ultra-pure marine biostimulant derived from natural brown seaweed via advanced enzymatic hydrolysis, with a strictly controlled degree of polymerization (DP 2-10) and ultra-low molecular weight (≤1,500 Da). As a powerful elicitor and signaling molecule, it penetrates plant tissues rapidly to stimulate explosive root development, trigger stress-resistance gene expression against drought, frost and salinity, and boost fruit coloring and sugar accumulation. For field use: foliar spray 30–60 g of AOS 90% powder per hectare (≈27–54 g a.i./ha; working solution 30–60 ppm at approx. 1,000 L/ha, i.e., 3–6 g per 100 L water) at critical stages or 2–3 days before expected stress; drip irrigation 100–300 g/ha. For formulators: add 0.1–0.5% (1–5 kg per metric ton) into liquid fertilizers, seaweed extracts or amino acid solutions. Packed in 20 kg bags with custom OEM packaging. MOQ 100 kg; standard lead time approximately 10 working days to Shanghai port; batch COA with every shipment.

Key benefits

  • Elite Cellular Signaling & Stress Resilience Acts as a potent elicitor that rapidly triggers the expression of stress-resistance genes, enabling crops to survive and recover quickly from drought, frost, and salinity.
  • Explosive Root & Lateral Root Development Stimulates the synthesis of endogenous auxins, promoting explosive root elongation and lateral root branching for maximized nutrient uptake.
  • Fruit Quality & Coloring Booster Enhances sugar accumulation, accelerates chlorophyll synthesis, and promotes uniform fruit coloring and sizing in high-value orchard and greenhouse crops.
  • Excellent Cold-Water Stability & Viscosity Reduction Unlike raw seaweed kelp meal which increases liquid viscosity and risks clumping in winter, AOS consists of short-chain oligosaccharides. It maintains low viscosity, provides flawless solubility, and lowers the crystallization point of liquid formulas. The finished product stays premium and fluid, even in colder climates.
  • Synergistic Deflocculation & Nutrient Carrier AOS possesses highly dense active carboxyl groups that act as efficient, natural chelating sites. It easily forms compatible bonds with micronutrients (Zn²⁺, Fe²⁺, etc.) and macro-elements in the blending tank. This prevents nutrient chemical fixation and acts as a biological carrier for near-instant crop uptake.

Suggested dosage & application

For Formulators & Fertilizer Manufacturers

  • Solid & Liquid Blends: Add AOS 90% at 0.1%–0.5% (1–5kg per MT) into water-soluble fertilizers, seaweed extract liquids, or microbial inoculants as a synergistic elicitor.

For Field Application (Foliar Spray & Fertigation)

  • Foliar Spraying: Apply 30–60 g/ha (30–60 ppm working solution, i.e., 3–6 g per 100 L water) during root establishment, flowering, or 2–3 days prior to abiotic stress conditions.
  • Fertigation / Drip Irrigation: Apply 100–300 g/ha via drip systems to promote root elongation and soil micro-ecology in saline-alkali fields.

Frequently asked questions

01What is Alginate Oligosaccharide 90% (AOS) in agricultural bio-inputs?

Alginate Oligosaccharide 90% (AOS) is a low-molecular-weight carbohydrate produced by enzymatic degradation of alginic acid from brown seaweed. It serves as an elicitor that triggers plant defense mechanisms, enhances root development, and improves stress resistance.

02How does AOS powder differ from standard brown seaweed extract (Ascophyllum nodosum)?

Standard seaweed extract contains long-chain alginates and macro/micro-nutrients, whereas AOS powder consists of concentrated short-chain oligomers (<1,500 Da). This enables much higher biological activity, faster cell signaling, and superior elicitation at ultra-low dosages (50–100g/ha).

03Can Alginate Oligosaccharides reduce salinity stress in soil?

Yes. AOS regulates cell membrane permeability and osmotic adjustment, helping plants exclude excess sodium (Na⁺) ions while promoting potassium (K⁺) uptake under saline-alkali conditions.

04How does AOS work in crops?

AOS acts as a potent elicitor and signaling molecule that rapidly triggers the expression of stress-resistance genes, enabling crops to survive and recover quickly from drought, frost and salinity. It also stimulates the synthesis of endogenous auxins, promoting explosive root elongation and lateral root branching for maximized nutrient uptake.

05Can AOS chelate nutrients in the blending tank?

Yes. AOS possesses highly dense active carboxyl groups that act as efficient natural chelating sites. It easily forms compatible bonds with micronutrients (Zn²⁺, Fe²⁺, etc.) and macro-elements, preventing nutrient chemical fixation and acting as a biological carrier for near-instant crop uptake.

06What is the MOQ, packaging and lead time for AOS 90% powder?

AOS 90% powder is packed in standard export packaging 20 kg/bag with OEM customization available. MOQ is 100 kg; lead time is about 10 working days to Shanghai port, and every shipment includes a batch COA.

07How should AOS 90% powder be stored?

Store sealed in a cool, dry place below 25 °C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Shelf life is 24 months from the manufacturing date; keep the packaging tightly closed after use.
