Amino Acid Derivatives
GABA (γ-Aminobutyric Acid) 98% Crystalline Powder
Plant Biostimulant Powder for Abiotic Stress Defense & Yield Enhancement
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a natural non-protein amino acid that exists in a free state in various organisms. As a plant biostimulant and stress-signaling molecule, it helps regulate ion transport, promotes the transport and uptake of nutrients in crops, regulates plant growth, enhances crop resistance to adverse conditions, and participates in plant defense mechanisms. Supplied as 98% GABA crystalline powder, it is 100% water-soluble at 20 °C with a pH of 5.0–7.5, making it a versatile ingredient for foliar sprays, fertigation and liquid fertilizer formulations targeting drought, salt and heat stress tolerance. For field use: apply 15–30 g/ha as a foliar spray (working solution approx. 1.5–3 g per 100 L water) every 10–14 days before or during abiotic stress; 30–60 g/ha via drip fertigation; or 0.5–1.0 g per 10 L for seed treatment/root dip. Packed in 25 kg drums (custom OEM packaging available) with a minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 50 kg. Standard lead time: approximately 10 working days to Shanghai port after payment confirmation, with a batch COA for every shipment.

Key benefits
- Drought, Salt & Heat Stress Tolerance: GABA regulates ion transport and primes antioxidant defense, helping crops withstand drought, salinity and extreme temperatures while maintaining cell turgor.
- Promotes Seed Germination & Seedling Growth: accelerates germination rate and seedling vigor for faster, more uniform crop establishment.
- Stimulates Root & Stem Development: strengthens the root system and above-ground growth for better nutrient and water uptake.
- Regulates Fruit Ripening: supports uniform, well-timed fruit ripening and better harvest quality.
- Protects Cells from ROS Damage: inhibits reactive oxygen species accumulation and prevents stress-induced cell death.
- Delays Leaf Senescence: keeps leaves green and photosynthetically active for longer, sustaining yield potential.
Suggested dosage & application
For Formulators & Fertilizer Manufacturers (Industrial Blending & Tank Mixes)
- Foliar Spray Additive (Liquid Formulations): Dissolve 100 g – 300 g of GABA 98% Crystalline Powder per 1,000 Liters of water (0.01% – 0.03% w/v concentration) to produce high-efficiency anti-stress liquid biostimulants.
- Water-Soluble NPK & Micronutrient Blends: Incorporate 200 g – 500 g per Metric Ton (0.02% – 0.05% w/w) of soluble fertilizer powder as an active plant osmoprotectant and bio-regulator.
- Biostimulant Synergistic Tank Mixes: Highly compatible with amino acids, glycine betaine, seaweed extracts, and humic acid. Blend 50 g – 150 g GABA 98% per 1,000 L of liquid amino acid or seaweed base to boost crop drought and heat recovery.
- OEM Custom Packaging: Private labeling, custom drum sizing, and batch COA support.
For Commercial Field Application (End-Users & Agronomists)
- Foliar Application (Crop Stress Defense): Apply 15–30 g/ha (approx. 1.5–3.0 g per 100 L of water; 1:30,000 to 1:60,000 dilution). Spray every 10–14 days during early vegetative growth, pre-flowering, or 24–48 hours prior to anticipated abiotic stress (drought, extreme heat, salinity, or frost).
- Fertigation & Drip Irrigation: Apply 30–60 g/ha via fertigation systems during root initiation, transplanting, or fruit expansion to promote stomatal regulation and water preservation.
- Seed Treatment / Root Dip: Use 0.5–1.0 g per 10 L of water for root dipping or seed soaking to improve germination speed and transplant survival rate under osmotic stress.

Frequently asked questions
01What is GABA used for in agriculture?
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a natural non-protein amino acid used as a plant biostimulant. It helps crops tolerate drought, salt, heat and cold stress, promotes root development, improves seed germination and regulates fruit ripening. It is commonly applied as a foliar spray, through drip irrigation, or added into liquid fertilizer and biostimulant formulations.
02How does GABA improve crop stress tolerance?
When plants are stressed, GABA accumulates naturally and acts as a signaling molecule: it regulates ion transport, maintains cell turgor under water deficit, and activates antioxidant defense systems that reduce oxidative damage. Supplying GABA externally primes these same defense pathways before or during stress events.
03What is the recommended GABA dosage?
For liquid foliar biostimulants, the recommended industrial additive dosage is 100 g to 300 g of GABA 98% crystalline powder per 1,000 Liters of water (0.01%–0.03% w/v). For commercial field application, the typical foliar spray rate is 15 g to 30 g per hectare (diluted 1:30,000 to 1:60,000 in water).
04Is GABA compatible with other fertilizers?
Yes. GABA 98% powder features high chemical stability and 100% water solubility. It shows excellent tank mix compatibility with enzymatic amino acids, glycine betaine, seaweed extracts, humic acids, and water-soluble NPK fertilizers, creating powerful synergistic biostimulant blends. As with any new tank mix, we recommend a small jar test before large-scale application.
05Can GABA 98% be applied via drip irrigation and seed treatment?
Absolutely. For fertigation and drip irrigation, apply 30 g to 60 g/ha to enhance root elongation and nutrient uptake under osmotic stress. For seed treatment or root dipping, use 0.5 g to 1.0 g per 10 L of water to reduce transplant shock and boost seed germination rates.
06What is the MOQ, packaging and lead time for GABA 98% crystalline powder?
GABA 98% crystalline powder is packed in standard export packaging 25 kg/drum with OEM customization available. MOQ is 50 kg; lead time is about 10 working days to Shanghai port, and every shipment includes a batch COA.
07How should GABA 98% powder be stored?
Store sealed in a cool, dry place below 25 °C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Shelf life is 24 months from the manufacturing date; keep the packaging tightly closed after use.
08What is the CAS number and molecular formula of GABA 98%?
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) has CAS 56-12-2 and molecular formula C4H9NO2.
